MALAYSIA defeated Singapore 65-41 to win the SEA Games netball gold medal at the Juara Stadium in Bukit Kiara on Sunday (Aug 20).
Backed by an estimated 1,000 fans including Prime Minister YAB Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and wife Datin Paduka Seri Rosmah Mansor, the Malaysian girls dominated the final from the first quarter.
Malaysia last won the gold medal at the 2001 Kuala Lumpur SEA Games. They reached the final of the 2015 Games in Singapore but settled for silver.
Netball was not contested in the biennial Games from 2003-2013.
