Two new faces – Mees Hilgers and Eliano Reijnders – have been called up as part of Shin Tae-yong’s 27 players in preparation for the next two qualifying matches for the 2026 FIFA World Cup
Playing in Group C of the third round qualifiers, Indonesia will take on Bahrain (on 10 October 2024 at the Bahrain National Stadium in Riffa) and then China (on 15 October 2024 at the Qingdao Youth Football Stadium in Qingdao).
With Hilgers and Reijnders having gained Indonesia citizenship on 30 September 2024, the inclusion of the duo will give more bite to the squad under the Korean tactician.
In the first two matches of the qualifiers, Indonesia drew 1-1 against Saudi Arabia on the road and then a scoreless draw against Australia at home.
