Prak Savonnara, the head coach of the Cambodian national team, has called up a string of new faces ahead of their clash against Laos on 21 March.
With the match against Afghanistan coming up in the AFC Asian Cup Group C qualifiers, the test game will be crucial to Cambodia’s preparation.
Among the newcomers are Keo Soksela of Visakha FC and Oum Odoum of Svay Rieng as Prak chose to sit out Boeung Ket’s vastly experienced Cambodia No.1 Sou Yaty.
Others include defenders Sath Rosib of Boeung Ket and the Phnom Penh Crown pair of Ouk Sovann and Yue Safy as well as Sok Heang of National Defense Ministry and Sin Kakada of Crown.
Striker Mat Noron of Electricite du Cambodge was also a surprise choice.
But the team will not be without experienced where Prak has also called up foreign-based players like forward Chan Vathanaka of Pahang FC, Negeri Sembilan winger Prak Mony Udom, PKNP FC striker Keo Sokpheng and Teregganu midfielder Thierry Chantha Bin (main pix).
