The new stadium for Malaysian Super League squad Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT), reportedly to be built in Nusajaya, is expected to be completed in one and a half years.
JDT club owner Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim said he was informed on the matter by a leading company which would be building the stadium.
Through his latest entry in the JDT official Facebook page, The Southern Tigers, the prince also said that the ground-breaking ceremony for the new stadium would be held on Jan 30, with the presence of the squad’s fans whom he described as part of the key to the club’s success all this while.
“Alhamdulillah, JDT is now in a class of its own and I am very grateful for the good fortune presented to us. May Allah Protect the Sultan, In God We Trust,” the Johor crown prince said.
Tunku Ismail also thanked his father, Sultan Ibrahim Almarhum Sultan Iskandar, for giving a piece of land for the building of the JDT Sports City and for providing the funds for the construction of the new stadium.
On Saturday, Sultan Ibrahim reportedly stated that he had granted a 28ha piece of land given by the state government for the building of the JDT Sports City, which would accommodate various types of sports under the name of JDT, besides having other facilities like a hotel, apartment blocks and a shopping centre.
On Jan 10, the Sultan was reported to be giving RM50 million to JDT for the building of the new stadium, as he was happy to see football playing an important role in uniting the people of Johor and bringing glory to the state at the international level. – BERNAMA
