BUKIT Jalil Sports School (BJSS) student NurIzaziRoslihas two important events this year – the upcoming Kuala Lumpur 2017 SEA Games and SijilPelajaran Malaysia Examination.
For a start, the 17-year-old aims to shine in the 10-metre air rifle event against a field of experience shooters that include Singaporean Jasmine Ser, an Olympian and current Commonwealth Games gold medalist.
Being the youngest athlete in the national shooting squad, NurIzazi said she has come a long way in realizing her dream of a medal in the biennial games.
“I started learning to shoot at age 10 and have done well in National Junior tournaments. I’m quite ready but I will need a little moretraining to overcome my weaknesses,” said NurIzazi, who was called up for the National Junior squad in 2015.
“Jasmine (Ser) is an Olympian but I will focus on my performance. I believe if she (Jasmine) can do it, why can’t I. I just need to stay calm and focus on the job ahead,” she added.
Balancing her act between studies and training, NurIzazi hopes to win a medal in her SEA Games debut.
