With the first bout in pencak silat due to kick-off Perlis’ hosting of the SUKMA XVII later tonight, it has been all high gear for members of the secretariat as they get down to the brass tacks in anticipation of the state’s biggest sporting job.
Malaysia’s northern most state of Perlis will be hosting the SUKMA this year from 24 May to 4 June. But the sport of pencak silat which begins tonight and also men’s football tomorrow will be the two early starters.
Other than the secretariat having to grapple with getting the sporting venues ready in time as well as arranging for transportations, F&B and also accommodations, they also have to prepare up to 20,000 accreditation passes which will be used throughout the event.
These accreditations will be used to control the movements of all who are at the SUKMA so as to ensure a more organized event.
Official broadcaster RTM have also moved into their centre located at the Warisan Complex which also houses the Main Press Centre.
With just hours left to the start of the big event and with everyone pitching in for the final push, Perlis’ big dream is nicely taking shape.
