INDONESIA retained the men’s para table tennis Class 10 (ambulent) gold medal following a 3-0 win over Malaysia to finish top of the round robin league at the Malaysian International Trade and Exhibition Centre on Wednesday (Sept 20).
Led by Komet Akbar and Dian David Mickael Jacobs the Indonesians proved too good for Mohamed Azwar Bakar and Ahmad Syahir Mohd Kamal Saupi.
Komet gave Indonesia the first point with a 11-1, 11-2 and 11-5 win over Ahmad Syahir Mohd Kamal Saupi and Dian David followed up by registering a 11-2, 12-10 and 11-7 victory against Mohamed Azwar.
The Indonesians than teamed-up in the doubles and brushed aside the challenge from Mohamed Azwar-Ahmad Syahir to ensure the gold medal with a 11-3, 11-5 and 11-5 victory.
Indonesia has won three gold medals in Para table tennis after the success of their men’s Class 8 and women’s Class 6-8 who proved to be dominant in their round robin matches.
