s247soccer_038PENANG are the new leaders in the Premier League competition with a 1-0 win over Kedah at the City Stadium as Police’s stay at the top came to an end after a 2-2 draw with Negri Sembilan at the Petaling Jaya Stadium in Kelana Jaya.

It was the second successive time that Police shared points after their 3-3 draw with Felda United last week and slipped to second place with 20 points to Penang’s 22. However, Police still have a game in hand.

Lanky South Korean defender Lee Kwang Hyeon was Penang’s hero, heading home a freekick after 57 minutes.

Penang coach K. Devan, although happy with the three points, said: “We were rather lucky to hold out for the win, especially after we were reduced to 10 players.

“Penang had a good first half but we our finishing was not there. Still it is the points that count and it is good feeling to be there at the top.”

In other matches Johor Darul Takzim 2 collected full points with a 2-0 win over KL SPA in Pasir Gudang while Felda United continued with their revival with a 4-2 win over UiTMC at Shah Alam. Perlis snatched a 2-1 win over Penang Water Supply Corporation (PBAPPFC) in Alor Star.
