#Fabio Quartararo and Franco Morbidelli confident of their potential ahead of Thai Grand Prix
PETRONAS Yamaha Sepang Racing Team riders Fabio Quartararo and Franco Morbidelli are heading to this weekend’s Thai Grand Prix and the first race of MotoGP’s five-week trip to Asia and Australia full of confidence, as both look to build on strong performances in recent rounds when the action gets underway at the Buriram International Circuit.
Quartararo goes into the weekend on a hot streak, only finishing outside the top five once in the last four races. Heading to a track where he had one of the best results of his 2018 season in Moto2, he knows that he can once again get stuck into the battle for the podium at the Buriram circuit.
Team-mate Morbidelli has a point to prove as he goes into action in Thailand, after being denied the chance of a third consecutive top-five finish last time out in Aragon when another rider took him out of the race. Enjoying a positive debut at the circuit twelve months ago, he too is confident that it can be a strong weekend for him.
Franco Morbidelli
“I like the Buriram circuit, and last year was a positive weekend there for me. We’ll be better able to exploit our strong points better than last time out, and try to once again set a good level. We were strong in Aragon but didn’t get a chance to show it, so hopefully, we’ll be able to realise our potential there. The target is to be in the top five again.”
Fabio Quartararo
“I think it’ll be a little better for us than Aragon was because there’s a lot of long, slow corners that will suit our bike. The more-experienced riders have less of an advantage there as it’s only the second time racing there, so we’ll work hard to adapt quickly and do our best. This is my favourite time of the year, heading into the four races in Asia and Australia, because I love travelling and I’ll have a chance to rest after Thailand too.”
