Philippines are shifting their focus to the SEA Games in Kuala Lumpur next month after failing to make the cut to the AFC Under-23 Championship in China next year.
The Philippines bowed out of their qualifiers in Phnom Penh after suffering three losses – 8-0 to Japan, 2-0 to China and then 1-0 to hosts Cambodia.
“What is important is that we were able to play as a team,” said Philippine head coach Marlon Maro. “Now we have to go back home and prepare for the SEA Games and improve on our weaknesses.”
For KL2017, the Philippines are in Group B against defending champions Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Cambodia, and Timor-Leste.
