Dikemudi Thidarat Soda, regu Thailand mudah melepasi set pertama 21-10.

HISTORIC SILVER FOR WOMEN’S TEAM

IT was a historic achievement for the Malaysian women sepak takraw team as they clinched the silver medal of the regu event held at the Titiwangsa Stadium on Monday (Aug 21).

The victory bettered the bronze medal performance in Singapore two years ago.

The last round robin decider which pits Malaysia and Thailand saw some exciting action.

Steered by Thidarat Soda, the Thai regu easily sailed through the first set with a 21-10 win. In the second set, Thailand stamped their prowess, displaying neat moves to overcome the Malaysians 21-12.

They settled for silver but it was enough to bring cheers to the Malaysian camp as it was the team’s best achievement thus far.

“My players put up their best performance, I have no complaints. But there are still weaknesses here and there,” Malaysian coach Md Fikri Md Nor.
