A big question mark has been raised on the future of Simon McMenemy as the head coach of the Indonesia national team following two uninspiring results in the second round qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup 2022.

Indonesia suffered back to back losses in their opening two matches of the second round qualifiers when they fell to a 3-2 loss to Malaysia and then a 3-0 defeat to Thailand.

Both matches were played at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Senayan.

“We will wait for the report from Simon as the head coach. And we will also wait for the report from Danurwindo (PSSI Technical Director),” said Gusti Randa, PSSI Chief Executive.

“We will have an Exco meeting soon and we will decide on the next course of action. Whether Simon will stay or otherwise will depend on the outcome of the meeting.”

Indonesia’s third match of the qualifiers will be an away game against the United Arab Emirates on 11 October 2019.
