The Sepaktakraw Association of Malaysia (PSM) will need at least RM2.3 million (USD500,000) to organise the Sepaktakraw World Cup 2024 next year.
A total of 20 countries are expected to participate in the Sepaktakraw World Cup 2024 slated for 17-27 May 2024 at the Titiwangsa Stadium.
The last time Malaysia hosted the event was back in 2011.
“ISTAF (International Sepaktakraw Federation) agreed to give recognition to PSM to organize the Sepaktakraw World Cup next year,” said ISTAF Secretary General Datuk Abdul Halim Kader.
Added PSM President Datuk Mohd Sumali Reduan: “We volunteered to organise the Sepaktakraw World Cup because this tournament has not been organised in Malaysia for a long time.
“Regarding funds, we are in the process of discussion and we should not face problems in obtaining allocations and the main sponsor of the tournament.
“We will try to organise this tournament with the best budget possible.”
