The Indonesia national team took to training soon after their arrival in Manila today with head coach Shin Tae-yong saying ‘quick adaptation will be important.’
Indonesia will play the Philippines on 21 November 2023 in their second game of Group F of the second round qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup 2026.
“After the match against Iraq, we moved immediately to the Philippines, we spent a day on the road, so the players are tired, but I will prepare the team well,” said Tae-yong.
“The grass (at the Rizal Memorial Stadium) is synthetic. So, we have to focus on recovery and at the same time training so that players can quickly adapt which is important.”
The Philippines started their campaign with a 2-0 loss to ASEAN neighbour Vietnam in Manila while Indonesia conceded a 5-1 defeat to Iraq in Basra.
Tae-yong said that it will be crucial for his chargers to minimise mistakes against the Philippines next.
“This is what is called football, you can win or lose. But I reminded the players to minimise mistakes (against the Philippines),” he added.
