Malaysia’s Chan Peng Soon and Goh Liu Ying gunned own their opponents from Poland this evening to book a place in the semifinals of the Rio Olympics badminton tournament.
Peng Soon-Liu Ying, who are unseeded here, took just 47 minutes to beat Robert Mateusiak-Nadiezda Zieba 21-17, 21-10 to move a step closer to a medal.
They will face either China’s Xu Chen-Ma Jin or So Sung Hyun-Kim Ha Na (still playing at press time) in the semifinals.
The other semifinals battle will see topseeds Zhang Nan-Zhao Yunlei from China face Indonesia’s Tontowi Ahmad-Liliyana Natsir.
