Sabah Tennis Association (STA) president Johnson Koh received the news today that four of the tennis courts at the Kota Kinabalu Sports Complex will be roofed starting this month.
Johnson was at the Lembaga Sukan Negeri office to receive the notification from Penyuki Matta.
The four tennis courts will be closed for several months to facilitate the construction of the roof.
Naturally, Johnson was elated and would like to thank the state government for approving the project which STA had applied for couple of years ago.
With the roofing, tennis players will be able to play even in the rain and hot afternoons.
This roofing will solve many problems faced by organizers, officials and players during tournaments and daily practice by players. The tennis courts can now be fully utilized 24 hours.
STA would like to thank the Sports Ministry for supporting the project and also the Chief Minister for approving the funding for the project.
Johnson was very desperately looking forward to the state government on this approval a couple of years ago. STA had been knocking on the doors of the Ministry of Finance after obtaining support from the Ministry of Sports.
This good news will definitely be welcomed by parents, players, officials and all involved in this sports.
