BERBAKI 80 hari menjelang bermulanya Sukan SEA 2017, pingat yang menjadi rebutan pada temasya Kuala Lumpur 2017, dipekenalkan secara rasmi pada satu majlis di Royal Selangor Visitor Centre, Setapak Kuala Lumpur.
Pengenalan rekabentuk dan pingat bagi temasya KL2017 itu yang pasti tambah menyemarakkan semangat para atlet dan kontinjen yang akan mengorak cabaran bermula 19 Ogos ini.
Royal Selangor pada Selasa (30 Mei) secara rasmi menyertai keluarga KL2017 sebagai penaja Perak dan dikenali sebagai “Rakan Pingat Rasmi” Kuala Lumpur 2017.
Lebih 1,200 pingat emas, perak dan gangsa hasil rekaan pengeluar pewter ulung Malaysia itu diperkenalkan oleh Menteri Belia dan Sukan YB Brig Jen Khairy Jamaluddin.
YB Brig Jen Khairy, yang juga Pengerusi MASOC, hadir menyaksikan perjanjian antara Royal Selangor yang diwakili Pengarah Eksekutifnya, Chen Thien Yue dengan Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif Dato’ Seri Zolkples Embong yang mewakili Sekretariat Jawatankuasa Pengelola Malaysia (MASOC).
Turut hadir, Timbalan Menteri Belia dan Sukan Datuk M Saravanan, Presiden Majlis Olimpik Malaysia (MOM) Tan Sri Tunku Imran Tuanku Jaafar, Setiausaha Agung MOM, Datuk Low Beng Choo dan Timbalan Presiden Majlis Paralimpik Malaysia (MPM), John Ng.
Pembabitan Royal Selangor bersama MASOC sudah pun bermula sejak awal tahun ini apabila mengilhamkan baton yang digunakan bagi Larian Baton Bangkit Bersama bersempena yang bermula dari Brunei Darussalam pada 5 Mac dan tamat di Singapura pada 13 Mei lepas.
Pingat bagi KL2017 diperbuat daripada cakera kayu kempas yang amat dikenali sebagai sumber asli Malaysia. Reka bentuknya yang kemas menonjolkan gabungan bahan-bahan khusus tersebut tetapi masih mengekalkan tumpuan kepada atlet.
Royal Selangor turut mereka bentuk obor yang digunakan bagi acara Larian Obor KL2017 yang telah bermula sejak 14 Mei lepas. Larian Obor kini menjelajah ke seluruh negra dan akan berakhir pada 12 Ogos depan.
Kalangan awam berpeluang mendapatkan barangan khas termasuklah pingat daripada Royal Selangor bersempena temasya KL2017 termasuk arca RIMAU, pingat kenang-kenangan dan pin kolar.
Dalam pada itu, YB Brig Jen Khairy mengumumkan MASOC telah melepasi sasaran tajaan keseluruhan RM80 juta KL2017 dalam bentuk tunai, prdouk dan perkhidmatan.
Keseluruhannya setakat ini, kita telah catat RM82.6 juta dengan tunai terkumpul berjumlah RM25 juta manakala tajaan barangan dan perkhidmatan bermulai hampir RM58 juta,” kata YB Brig Jen Khairy.
Lebih 7,000 atlet dan pegawai dari 11 negara akan menyertai Sukan SEA ke-29 (19-30 Ogos) yang mempertandingkan 38 sukan dan manakala Sukan Para ASEAN (17-23 Sept) yang mempertandingkan 16 jenis sukan dijangka menyaksikan penyertaan lebih 2,000 atlet dan pegawai.
ROYAL SELANGOR COMES ON BOARD, KL2017 EXCEEDS SPONSORSHIP TARGET
THE medals for the Kuala Lumpur 2017 Games were officially unveiled on Tuesday (30 May 2017), marking the official collaboration between Malaysian pewter manufacturer Royal Selangor and Malaysia Organising Committee (MASOC) for the 29th SEA Games and 9thASEAN Para Games scheduled in August and September respectively.
With 80 days left before the commencement of the KL2017 Games, fans and the public were given a glimpse of the medals which were officially unveiled by Youth and Sports Minister YB Brig Gen Khairy Jamaluddin at Royal Selangor’s headquarters in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur. Royal Selangor will be known as Kuala Lumpur 2017 “Official Medal Partner”.
More than 1,200 gold, silver and bronze medals were created and designed by Royal Selangor specially for the region’s biggest sporting extravaganza which will take place from 19 to 30 August. The 9th ASEAN Para Games is scheduled from 17-23 September.
Also present at the ceremony were Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Datuk M. Saravanan, MASOC Secretariat Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Seri Zolkples Embong, Olympic Council of Malaysia President Tunku Imran Tuanku Jaafar and Malaysian Paralympic Council (MPM) Deputy President John Ng.
Royal Selangor’s involvement in the Games started early this year following collaboration with MASOC in the creation and design of the Games baton which were used during the Rising Together Baton Run across all 10 participating nations, which ended on May 13.
The Games Torch, currently paraded in the nationwide Torch Run event, was also created and designed by Royal Selangor. The Torch Run started in Johor Bharu on May 13 and ends on August 12 in Kuala Lumpur.
Fans and members of the public can also purchase specially produced Games merchandise by Royal Selangor such as RIMAU figures, commemorative medals and collar pins.
Meanwhile, YB Brig Gen Khairy announced that MASOC had exceeded its sponsorship target of RM80 million following today’s sponsorship. “To date, a total sponsorship of RM82.6 million has been raised, exceeding the RM80 million target of sponsorship in the form of cash, product and services.
MASOC has managed to raise RM25 million in cash while the overall sponsorship in kind currently stands at RM58 million,” said YB Brig Gen Khairy.
More than 7,000 athletes and officials from 11 countries are expected to compete in the 2017 SEA Games while the ASEAN Para Games will see the participation of more than 2,000 athletes and officials.
