Sabah Tennis president Johnson Koh paid a call to the permanent secretary of the sports ministry to hand over the request for the resurfacing of the tennis courts at Likas sports complex.
The tennis courts have not been resurfaced for more than 10 years.
While thanking the Sabah government for the roofing of the four tennis courts, the STA is also requesting for the resurfacing of the courts as it is beyond repair. It is not suitable for any competition. It is also dangerous for normal play due to the uneven surface, pot holes and cracks inside and outside the playing areas.
The contractor did do some patch up work on the roofed courts but after inspection, it was found that the surface needs more than remedial patch up.
STA have written to the sports complex general manager Penyuki Matta and Chairman Datuk Louis Rampas but they have to refer the issue to the permanent secretary.
STA president yesterday called on the permanent secretary Awang Damit Awang Anak to appeal to the ministry on the matter.
