The Sabah Tennis Association (STA) have made a suggestion to the state government to consider reserving the 15% gaming tax in the state solely for the development of sports in Sabah.
STA president Johnson Koh made the suggestion after leading a delegation from STA to pay a courtesy call on Sabah’s newly announced Sports Minister YB Frankie Poon.
“The gaming tax imposed on all official gambling in Sabah have been implemented for many years, but the impact on sports was hardly felt,” said Johnson.
“This need to be changed for sports to develop further in Sabah. Hopefully, our suggestion will bear fruit as there are plenty of sports talent in the state.”
