Selangor came off with a “precious point’ in their tough away encounter against Pahang at the Darul Makmur Stadium in Kuantan on Sunday and chief coach B. Satianathan was one happy man.
“I did not ask for one point or three points from my team…all I asked was ‘give your best’ and this they did in style,” said Satianathan, who was fuming mad a week earlier after the Red Giants fell to an embarrassing 4-0 defeat to PKNS FC at home.
“We never allowed Pahang to settle…we broke their rhythm. This helped us to gain confidence. My players played with commitment after three disappointing matches.
“Skipper Rufino (Segovia) was inspiring and rallied his teammates. This is a very encouraging result against Pahang as we play JDT in our next match. It has given the team something to ride on,” added Satianathan.
Meanwhile, Pahang coach Dollah Salleh was disappointed with the performance of the Elephants.
“We did not play to our strength and expectations. I am disappointed with the outcome as we had expected to win.
“In the first 15 minutes of play we were okay but simply lost focus and direction after that. We put ourselves under pressure for the rest of the match.
“Things became worse when we had a player sent off,” said Dollah, referring to the red card picked up by Frenchman Herald Goulon when the defender picked up his second booking on 72 minutes. RIZAL ABDULLAHÂ
