Selangor, chasing their 34th Malaysia Cup title, will have its full squad, minus the injured, for their away match against Police at the Hang Jebat Stadium in Melaka on Wednesday – to tighten their grip for a top-two finish in Group D.

Coach B. Satianathan did not bring the injured duo – Syazwan Zainon and K. Prabakaran – but the rest of the squad was in the traveling party to Melaka in the do-or-die mission against the Police who held Selangor to a 1-1 draw at the Shah Alam Stadium on Sunday.

Satianathan blasted his players for their disappointing performance in Shah Alam in a below-par showing that allowed Police to comeback from a goal down to share the spoils, Melaka United lead the group with six points after three matches while Selangor is second with five followed by Police on four.

“Who is chosen to start the game will very much on merit,” said Satianathan from Melaka, adding that “some players need to buck up” in their game.

In the same breath, Satianathan was quick to point out some of the below-par performers still get star ratings from the fans.

“How I wish these players can play true to their capabilities and win matches for the team. Somehow, we have managed to get a team that has done reasonably well in the league and at the same time keep the Malaysia Cup flame burning.

Satianathan, in a strong message after the draw against Police, warned the players if they do not buck up and they might as well stay at home. RIZAL ABDULLAH
