SINGAPORE’s won gold and bronze medals respectively in the women’s open wakeboard open event at the Water Sports Complex in Putrajaya on Sunday (26 Aug) morning.

Sasha Siew Hoon Christian a.k.a ‘Wakeboard Queen’ scored a total 62.78 points (intensity execution 21.15 points and 20.54 points in composition) to win the individual wakeboard gold.

The 2011 Palembang and 2015 Singapore Games gold medallist excelled in the qualifying round on Friday with a total score of 59.45 points.

Sasha,22, went through the wakeboard qualifying round yesterday with a total score of 59.45 points (19.43 points for execution and composition and 20.60 points for intensity).

Indonesia’s Galuh Mutiara Maulidina clinched silver  with 47.67 points while another Singaporean, Gooi Jia Yi, claimed the bronze with 36.89 points.

Sasha will also be competing in the women’s open overall waterski category comprising slalom, tricks and jumps.

Meanwhile in the men’s open wakeboard category, Thailand completed a 1-2 finish with Padiwat Jaemjan winning  the gold and Tatsanai Kuakoonrat the silver.

Padiwat, who celebrated his 29th birthday on Friday, scored 69.78 points, Tatsanai 66.89 points while Mark Griffin took bronze with a score of 63 points.
