FOR as low as RM10, fans and members of the public can join the excitement and watch their favourite sporting stars live in action at selected stadiums and venues in the upcoming 29th SEA Games from 19 to 30 August.
The Malaysia Organising Committee (MASOC) Kuala Lumpur 2017 on Tuesday (4 July 2017) launched the sales of tickets for 19 events of the KL Games with prices ranging from RM10 to RM20.
Youth and Sports Minister YB Brig Gen Khairy Jamaluddin launched the ticket sales, which is open from now until the end of the Games or until tickets are sold out.
Also present were MASOC Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Seri Zolkples Embong, Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) secretary general Datuk Low Beng Choo and MASOC Chief Operating Officer, Encik Shaiful Subhan.
Tickets are required for major events such as diving, swimming, synchronised swimming, water polo, badminton, gymnastics, karate, taekwondo, pencak silat, futsal, netball, rugby, track cycling, basketball, sepak takraw, billiard and snooker, muay and football.
However, admissions are free for 32 other events which include open water swimming, archery, athletics, tenpin bowling, boxing, cricket, cycling (BMX and road), equestrian, fencing, golf, hockey, ice hockey, ice skating, judo, lawn bowl, petanque, sailing and few others.
No tickets are required to watch all 16 sports and events for the 9th ASEAN Para Games which takes place from 17 to 23 September.
Explaining on the rationale to charge tickets at the Games, YB Brig Gen Khairy said: “MASOC realises the need to have a systematic method to control the number of crowd especially at venues of popular sports. As such, we have to introduce the ticketing system.”
Tickets can be purchased online via the Games’ official website www.kualalumpur2017.com.my as well as at various ticketing outlets which will be announced at a later date.
“MASOC has taken steps to ensure affordable prices of tickets, ranging from RM10 to RM20, far cheaper that the minumum charge of at least RM50 for other major sporting events.
During the Games, sufficient security personnel will be deployed and placed at entry points at venues and stadiums to combat against the sales of fake and counterfeit tickets.
