Sabah Tennis Association president Johnson Koh went to the Luyang State Assemblyman YB Datuk Hiew King Chi to seek his help to get the Likas tennis courts resurfaced.
Johnson Koh handed over the appeal and related documents to Datuk Hiew to take action on the deplorable conditions of the tennis courts.
“This is to cut red tape in dealing with the matter which needs urgent attention as tennis is one of the most popular sport in the state.
“As the state assemblyman for Luyang he (Hiew) has and is the last powers to assist STA with prompt funding as the other avenues takes time and require a long time to resurface all the 13 courts,” said Johnson Koh.
“It is heartening to know that Hiew has promised to do his utmost to assist STA with the Celina the president, players, coaches and parents are facing.”
Johnson said many of the tournaments held in Sabah have foreign participation and will put Kota Kinabalu in an embarrassing situation.
“We don’t want such things to happen to our us,”
He added that the STA fraternity hopes Hiew can help by securing a special “peruntukan” (allocation) to resurface all the tennis courts.
