The semi-finals of the Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy 2018 will see Myanmar taking on Cambodia while Singapore will entertain Timor Leste in the second tie later this evening.

Hosts Brunei – winners in 2012 – failed to make the cut for the final four after losing to Myanmar 1-0 in their final game of Group A.

Zin Min Tun scored the only goal of the game in the 35th minute.

While the win allowed Myanmar to win Group A, it up ended Brunei’s hopes when Timor Leste take the second spot following their 1-1 draw against Thailand.

Pithak Phapirom nailed the opener for Thailand after just three minutes but Rufino Gama grabbed the late equaliser deep in injury time.

While the draw ensured Timor Leste the runners up from the group, it failed to salvage Thailand’s campaign as the two-time winners (2005 and 2007) were shown the exit door.

In the meantime, Singapore emerged as Group B winners purely on goal difference following their 1-0 loss to Cambodia.

All three teams – Singapore, Laos and Cambodia – finished their group campaign on the same three points after Singapore had beaten Laos 5-1 and then Laos beating Cambodia 2-1 in the second game.

With that, Cambodia joined Singapore in the semi-finals.
