# Malaysian falls to top seed Kunlavut of Thailand
# Mariska wins women’s singles title for Indonesia
Malaysia’s long wait for the men’s singles title in the World Junior Championships continued when fourth seed and Asian Junior Under-19 champion Leong Jun Hao paid a heavy price in the final in Yogjakarta, Indonesia on Sunday.
The Thai, on a hot-streak in the last two weeks, came off 17-21, 21-15, 21-9 in a 65 minute match at the Among Rogo Arena.
The 18-year-old Malaysia had everything going for him when he won the first game against Thailand’s top seed Kunlavut Vitidsarn 21-17 but in his eagerness to nail the title he allowed his opponent to come back into the picture.
The Thai, who retained the Asian Junior Under-17 title in Yangon two weeks ago, kept his cool and rode on Jun Hao’s mistakes to force a rubber by taking the second game 21-15. Jun Hao was a spent force in the decider and lost tamely at 21-9
Indonesia were the big winners in the world meet this year which saw China ending the Eye Level Cup (individual events) without a title when Asian Junior Under-19 champion Han Yue was beaten in the final by Indonesia’s Gregoria Mariska 21-13, 13-21, 24-22 in 64 minutes.
