Siti Nurshuhaini Azman was made to work hard for her spot in the main draw of the Women’s Singles of the BERGAMOT KL Masters Malaysia Super 100 2023 when she was fully tested on opening day here at the Titiwangsa Stadium.
Compatriot Joanne Ng certainly did not make it easy for the qualifying third seed Siti Nurshuhaini when she took the first set 21-17.
However, the 19-year-old Siti Nurshuhaini showed her quality to take the next two sets 21-16, 21-16 to advance to the second qualifying tie.
In her second game of the day, Siti Nurshuhaini made no mistake from the onset when she dumped unheralded Chen Han Yu from Chinese Taipei 21-18, 21-17 to book her place in the first round of the main draw tomorrow.
In the Round of 32, Siti Nurshuhaini will take on Mansi Singh from India.
On the other hand, qualifying round top seed in the women’s singles R. Kasturi from Malaysia could not progress beyond the first match of the qualifiers when she was stopped by Ung Yi Xing.
Yi Xing won the match 26-24, 21-19 to make the next round.
However, Yi Xing could not progress any further in the competition when she fell to a 21-13, 21-18 loss to Park Ga-eun from South Korea.
