Grab, Spritzer, Sunquick, and Unilever support Sunway Property in raising awareness for World Environment Day through its annual Race For A Better Planet campaign
In conjunction with the World Environment Day (WED), Sunway Property will organise its annual Race for A Better Planet campaign (#SunwayRFBP) via a series of cycling events in Klang Valley, Ipoh, Penang, and Johor Bahru from 7th May to 21st May 2017, as part of its commitment to raise public awareness on the importance of creating a sustainable environment.
The non-competitive cycling events will see two categories â Fun Ride and Power Ride (short and long distance) â for families and individuals to join with a fee of RM25 per person. In order to cultivate a green mind among the younger generation, parents can register their child who is 12 years old and below for free under the Fun Ride category, with a maximum of two children accompanied by one adult.
Each participant will get an event T-shirt, participating medal and goodies bag, as well as a complimentary meal and refreshment.
âThis is the fourth edition of our Race for A Better Planet campaign and we target to have more green warriors to join force with us and spread awareness for our planet. Through these interactive activities, we hope to bring the communities together and encourage them to adopt eco-friendly habits like reducing the use of plastic bottles, taking lunchbox instead of disposable containers, while promoting a healthy lifestyle via cycling and spending quality time with family and friends,â said Sarena Cheah, Managing Director of Sunway Berhad Property Development Division, Malaysia & Singapore.
Race for A Better Planet 2017 will be supported by Grab, MON CHĂRI, Sunquick, and Unilever, where Grab will be giving away RM12,000 worth of prizes for lucky participants across the four states. Sunway City Ipoh and Sunway Property Penang will kick start the cycling events early next month (7th May), followed by Sunway Iskandar Johor (14th May) and Sunway City in Selangor (21st May).
Over 5,000 slots are now open for registration at https://event.howei.com/event/race-for-a-better-planet-2017. All proceeds will be channelled to an environmental NGO at the end of the campaign.
Thereâll be green bazaars, workshops and performances held throughout the event, and everyone is welcome to join by taking public transport or carpool via Grab even if they are not cycling. This campaign is also in line with the companyâs âLiving Sunway, Living Communityâ notion to further engage and grow in tandem with the communities for the betterment of all.
World Environment Day is a global initiative under the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), which aims to create global awareness for the public in taking positive environmental steps to protect Mother Nature.
As a Master Community Developer, Sunway Property has been celebrating World Environment Day for three consecutive years. Last year, the Race for A Better Planet campaign witnessed a participation of over 3000 people via a range of sports activities, recycling efforts, green workshops and fun DIY events.
