* Katrina Ann Hadi and Zylane Lee strike gold at OCBC Aquatic Centre

 

 

The OCBC Aquatic Centre will be remembered as the venue for Malaysia’s first gold medal in the 28th edition of the SEA Games on Thursday – a day after the national team could only win a silver in the team free routine on Wednesday.

Synchronised swimmers Katrina Ann Hadi and Zylane Lee came out tops in the duet technical and free routine event after a close duel with Singapore’s Stephanie Chen and Crystal Yap. 

The Malaysians garnered 151.6769 points to grab the gold as the Singaporeans settled for the silver with a total of 149.2038 points. Indonesia represented by Anisa Feritrianti and Claudia Megawati settled for the bronze with a 139.088 total.

By winning the first gold medal for the country in this year’s Games which will be officially launched on Friday, a RM20,000 bounty awaits Katrina and Zylane.

On Wednesday the Malaysian synchronised team settled for the silver in the team free routine event.
