# Terengganu outfit top Group A with 1-0 win

# Group C wide open after wins by JDT and PKNS FC

Mali international Abdoulaye Maiga powered Terengganu outfit T-Team into the Malaysia Cup quarter-finals from Group A with a 1-0 upset win over Kedah at the Darulaman Stadium in Alor Setar on Saturday.

The defender headed home a freekick taken by Makan Konate in the 57th minute for the all-important goal. The win in Alor Setar also dislodged Kedah from the top of the group on goal difference after both teams were left tied with 10 points each after five matches.

The other two teams in the group – JDT II and Sarawak battled to a 1-1 draw at the State Stadium in Kuching.

At the Larkin Stadium in Johor Bahru the Southern Tigers finally registered their first win in the Malaysia Cup competition with a 4-1 win over Police in Group C.

Amri Yahya and Nazrin Nawi scored a brace each while former Selangor striker Guilherme de Paula scored the consolation goal for Police.

The battle for a top two finish and a place in the Malaysia Cup quarter-finals from Group C is wide open after Selangor club – 100PLUS Premier League outfit PKNS FC snatched a 2-1 win over leaders Perak at the Shah Alam Stadium.

This left Perak, Police and PKNS on seven points each while JDT have six points. The final group matches will be played on Aug 20 with PKNS at home to JDT while Police will host Perak.
