The Taifong Golf Club and Asian Development Tour (ADT) will extend its sponsorship of the Taifong Open for the next three years till 2020 as the fourth edition of the US$160,000 ADT event reaches its conclusion.

The Taifong Open, previously won by Asian Tour winners Chan Shi-chang (2014) and Rattanon Wannasrichan (2015), was staged on the local circuit before it elevated its status by coming on board the region’s secondary circuit as the richest tournament on the schedule in 2014.

The extension of this long-term partnership between the Taifong Golf Club and the ADT, which was inaugurated as gateway to the Asian Tour in 2010, will be a massive boost for the development of the game in Chinese Taipei and across Asia.

Por-shih Lin, Chairman of the Taifong Golf Club, said: “We are delighted to extend our title sponsorship with the ADT for the next three years, with the aim to upgrade the tournament to the premier Asian Tour when our new clubhouse – The Yuchia House is ready in 2018.

“Over the past four years, we are delighted to have played an integral role in the growth of the ADT and it remains our vision and goal to maintain this wonderful collaboration as the ADT provides a good platform for our local players to shine on the international stage.

“We have been a great supporter of golf for both men and women professionals in Chinese Taipei. It’s fulfilling to see great local players emerging on the Asian Tour, like our 2014 Taifong Open champion Chan Shih-chang. We value this partnership with the ADT as it gives us the opportunity to play a major role in growing golf in Chinese Taipei and Asia.”

Asian Tour CEO Josh Burack welcomed the extension of the Taifong Open with Taifong Golf Club.

“The Asian Tour would like to thank the Taifong Golf Club for its continued support and involvement with professional golf in Asia. They have been a terrific supporter of the game and have been instrumental towards the growth of golf in Chinese Taipei.

“We look forward to working closely with the Taifong Golf Club as we drive professional golf to greater heights in Asia and around the world,” said Burack.
