LARIAN Baton Bangkit Bersama yang dianjurkan sempena Sukan SEA ke-29 dan Sukan Para ASEAN ke-9 (juga dikenali sebagai Kuala Lumpur 2017 – KL2017) akan meneruskan siri larian ke negara juara bertahan sukan tersebut, Thailand pada 1 April 2017.

Larian di Thailand akan mencatatkan rekod larian terpanjang dalam siri Larian Baton Bangkit Bersama dengan jarak sejauh 24kilometer mengelilingi bandar Bangkok.

Larian tersebut akan bermula dan berakhir di Indoor Stadium Hua Mark di Bangkok. Peserta larian akan dilepaskan pada pukul 7 pagi dan akan melintasi 12 checkpoint utama yang melalui pelbagai bangunan ikonik di negara tersebut.

Menteri Belia dan Sukan, YB. Brig. Jen. Khairy Jamaluddin hadir sendiri mengetuai delegasi Malaysia ke Thailand.

Beliau turut disertai oleh Timbalan Ketua Setiausaha Kementerian Belia dan Sukan (KBS), Encik Nik Abd Kadir Nik Mohammad dan Ketua Pegawai Operasi Sekretariat MASOC KL2017, Shaiful Zahrin Subhan.

Acara pembukaan Larian Baton Bangkit Bersama di Bangkok akan turut dihadiri oleh Puan Yang Terutama Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul merangkap Menteri Pelancongan dan Sukan Thailand danGabenor Lembaga Sukan Thailand (Sports Authority of Thailand), Sakon Wannapong.

Sakon juga akan menjadi pelari utama yang berlepas daripada checkpoint pertama. Sebagai tanda sokongan, larian juga akan dimeriahkan lagi dengan penyertaan atlet kebangsaan Thailand yang lain daripada pelbagai acara sukan.

 

Larian Baton Bangkit Bersama di Bangkok merupakan kesinambungan daripada larian di Yangon yang berlangsung pada 25 Mac 2017. Acara di Myanmar tempoh hari telah menyaksikan penyerahan baton daripada Tuan Yang Terutama Dr. Myint Htwe, Menteri Kesihatan dan Sukan Myanmar kepada Tuan Yang Terutama Jukr Boon-Long, Duta Besar Thailand di Myanmar.

Baton yang sama sekali lagi akan diserahkan kepada wakiln egara hos Larian Baton Bangkit Bersama yang seterusnya iaitu Vietnam.

Siri larian baton ini telah memulakan langkah pertama di Brunei Darussalam pada 5 Mac 2017 sebelum mara ke Filipina, Lao PDR, Myanmar dan Thailand. Larian Baton BangkitBersama akan diteruskan ke Vietnam pada 9 April 2017.

 Penganjuran Larian Baton Bangkit Bersama adalah inisiatif MASOC sebagai pra-acara kepada temasya sukan KL2017.

Ia nya dianjurkan dengan kerjasama negara-negara peserta KL2017 untuk mempromosikan dan mewujudkan kesedaran mengenai temasya sukan tersebut kepada rakyat di Asia Tenggara.

KL2017 akan berlangsung pada 19 hingga 31 Ogos 2017 bagi temasya Sukan SEA ke-29 dan 17 hingga 23 September 2017 bagi Sukan Para ASEAN ke-9.

 

THAILAND PICKS UP THE RISING TOGETHER BATON RUN WITH THE LONGEST DISTANCE RECORD

THE Rising Together Baton Run organised in conjunction with the 29th SEA Games and the 9th ASEAN Para Games (also known as Kuala Lumpur 2017 – KL2017) will be making its way to the land of the defending champion of the SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games 2015, Thailand on 1 April 2017.

The run in Thailand will be the longest distance in the Rising Together Baton Run series with a route of 24 kilometres around the city of Bangkok.

Scheduled to kick-off and end at the Hua Mark Indoor Stadium in Bangkok, the baton run will be flagged off at 7 a.m. and will pass through 12 main checkpoints and several iconic buildings in the city centre.

The Minister of Youth and Sports, YB Brig. Gen. KhairyJamaluddin will be leading the Malaysian delegation to Thailand. He will be accompanied by the Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS), EncikNikAbdKadir bin Nik Mohammad and the Chief Operating Officer of the Malaysian Organising Committee (MASOC) Secretariat KL2017, Mr ShaifulZahrin bin Subhan.

The Minister of Tourism and Sports of Thailand, Her Excellency KobkarnWattanavrangkul and the Governor of Sports Authority of Thailand, Mr SakonWannapong, will also be present at the opening ceremony of the Rising Together Baton Run in Bangkok.

Mr Sakon Wannapong himself will be the main runner from the first checkpoint.  As a show of support, other national athletes from Thailand’s various sporting events will also participate. This includes among others, Sutiya Jiewchaloemmit, the first Thai skeet shooter to win a World Cup and Thailand’s weightlifting champions, Sukanya Srisurat and Sopita Tanasarn both of whom won gold medals in the 2016 Olympic Games.

Pongsakorn Paeyo, 2016 Paralympic Games gold medalist for wheelchair racing will receive the baton at the final checkpoint and he will be joined by Thailand’s triathlon and petanque athletes as supporting runners.

The Rising Together Baton Run in Bangkok is a continuation of the run in Yangon, Myanmar which was held on 25 March 2017. The event in Myanmar had witnessed the handover of baton from His Excellency Dr.MyintHtwe, Minister of Health and Sports Myanmar to His Excellency Jukr Boon-Long, Ambassador of Thailand to Myanmar.

The same baton will once again be handed over to the representative of the next host country of the Rising Together Baton Run, which is Vietnam. The baton run series kicked off in Brunei Darussalam on 5 March 2017 before travelling to the Philippines, Lao PDR, Myanmar and Thailand. The next leg of the Rising Together Baton Run will continue in Vietnam on 9 April 2017.

The Rising Together Baton Run is organised by MASOC with the cooperation of the participating countries as a prelude to KL2017. It is also one of the initiatives to promote KL2017 amongst participating countries as well as to create awareness of the Games within the region.

KL2017 will take place on 19th to 31st August 2017 for the 29th SEA Games and 17th to 23rd September 2017 for the 9th ASEAN Para Games.
