A week’s trip to Thailand will be important for the Vietnam Futsal national team as they look to shine at home when the AFF HDBank Futsal Championship 2019 takes place later this month.
The AFF HDBank Futsal Championship has been slated for 21-27 October 2019 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam with the meet to be used to qualify for the AFC Futsal Championship in 2020.
Only the top three teams will make the cut to the AFC meet.
Towards that, Vietnam head coach Miguel Rodrigo said that the trip Thailand will be of utmost importance.
“We only managed to get all players together at the end of the Vietnam Futsal League, which means that we only have three weeks together,” said Rodrigo.
“We have one week for physical preparation with some test matches before we leave for Thailand in the second week for several friendlies.
“The third week will be used to fix all the tactical problems we find in Thailand.”
Vietnam have been a consistent participant of the AFC Futsal Championship in the last three editions in 2014, 2016 and 2018.
Their best finish was back in 2016 in Uzbekistan where they finished fourth.
“The target is to qualify for the final,” added Rodrigo. “Or at least third to make sure that they can play in the AFC next year.”
