Thailand won the King’s Cup last night when they beat Belarus 5-4 on penalties – with Srirod Chatthong deliver the winner in front of more than 20,000 screaming fans at the Rajamangala Stadium.
The score at the end of regulation was 0-0.
And with the score tied 4-4 on penalties, Thai keeper Kawin Thamsatchanan then saved an attempt from Belarus’ Artsiom Skitau before Srirod then stepped up to the plate to deliver the home team’s 15th win in the history of the competition.
The win was new coach Milovan Rajevac’s first after taking over from Kiatisak Senamuang two months ago.
In the meantime, Burkina Faso emerged third after beating North Korea 4-3, also from the penalty shoot-out.
The scored ended 3-3 in regulation.
