Caretaker coach Benjamin Mora’s stint with three-time Malaysian Super League champions Johor Darul Takzim has ended – six months after taking over the hot-seat from Mario Gomez.
The Mexican has returned to his original role as head coach of JDT II – who ply their football trade in the lower-tier 100PLUS Premier League.
JDT FC sport director Alistair Edward in a posting on the Southern Tigers Facebook thanked Mora for his “continuous service, hard work and dedication” to the club during his stint.
“He is a young coach with much potential and we are confident he will be an even better coach in the future. As JDT II head coach Mora moulded young players like Fazly Mazlan, Dominic Tan, Afiq Fazail and Hadi Fayyadh.”
Edward revealed that JDT’s new head coach will be named soon. For now the Southern Tigers as JDT are called, will be handled by assistant coaches Ismail Ibrahim and Raul Longhi.
Mora was named the caretaker coach when JDT and then head coach Mario Gomez parted ways – just two days before the Charity Shield match against Kedah. The curtain raiser for the new season was played at the Larkin Stadium in Johor Bahru. – BY RIZAL ABDULLAH
