Ceres-Negros FC made it a hat trick of titles in the Philippines Football League when they came back to beat Green Archers United 3-1 at the Binan Football Stadium in Laguna last night.
John Celiz had given the Green Archers a 1-0 lead after 24 minutes, but Ceres equalised just five minutes after the restart through Angelo Marasigan.
Bienvenido Maranon then made sure of the title for Ceres this year with a double in the 81st and 87th minutes to give the Busmen all three points.
The win gave Ceres an unassailable lead in the PFL standings over the second-placed Kaya FC-Iloilo where they have also maintained an unbeaten record so far.
Ceres have picked up 56 points from 20 matches for 17 wins and two draws while Kaya FC only has 50 points having played one match more — their 3-1 win over Stallion Laguna on Saturday not enough to deny their rivals clinching the title.
Ceres-Negros had also won the first two editions of the Philippines Football League in 2017 and 2018.
