Wong Tien Ci-Lim Chiew Sien lived up to their second billing in the Mixed Doubles to coast into the semifinals of the 2024 Malaysia Super 100 at the Stadium Juara in Bukit Kiara.
The world’s no. 57 pair, who had won the Kazakstan International Challenge earlier in April this year, got the better of Americans Presley Smith-Jennie Gai.
Tien Ci-Chiew Sien took the first set 21-17 before the sixth seeded duo then snatched the second set 21-15.
However, Tien Ci-Chiew Sien then made sure of their place in the next round with a 21-10 victory.
Tien Ci-Chiew Sin’s opponent in the semifinals are third seeded pair Yuichi Shimogami-Sayaka Hobara from Japan.
Yuichi-Sayaka punched their way to the final four with after disposing Bobby Setiabudi-Melatuli Deva Oktavianti 21-17, 21-13.
In the meantime, it will be all-Malaysians in one-half of the semifinals of the Women’s Doubles with Go Peng Kee-Teoh Mei Xing taking on Ng Qi Xuan-Yap Rui Chen.
Peng Kee-Mei Xing made short work of compatriots Tan Zhing Hui-Amanda Hwa Leng Yap 21-13, 21-10 in just half an hour while Qi Xuan-Rui Chen edged Tsai Ruo-lin-Wang Yi-zhen from Chinese Taipei 21-14, 21-15.
