Nine points separate Championship leader Ana Carrasco (Evan Bros Racing Yamaha Team) from runner-up Maria Herrera (Klint Forward Factory Team) heading into the penultimate round of the inaugural season of the FIM Women’s Circuit Racing World Championship. With respective totals of 163 and 154 points, the pair holds a comfortable advantage over third-placed Sara Sanchez (511 Terra&Vita Racing Team), while Beatriz Neila (Ampito / Pata Prometeon Yamaha) sits in fourth with 107 points.
Maria Herrera last competed at the Circuito Estoril back in 2021 during her time in WorldSSP, whereas Ana Carrasco will be racing at the Portuguese track for the first time, a circuit where an injury ended her 2020 season prematurely. Several riders from the grid have been preparing for the Estoril Round with testing sessions at the circuit, including Tayla Relph (TAYCO Motorsport), who recently secured her first WorldWCR podium in Cremona.
The Estoril Round promises thrilling action, as Carrasco can clinch the first-ever WorldWCR title in Race 2 if she scores 42 points more than Herrera and 15 points more than Sanchez over the entire round.
