Vietnam were crowned as the inaugural champions of the ASEAN Women’s Futsal Championship 2024 after beating Thailand 2-1 in extra-time in the final at the PhilSports Arena.

The Thais, who had beaten the same Vietnam team 3-0 yesterday, seemed to be a little out of sort against an unyielding Vietnam side that held them scoreless until the end of regulation.

Just three minutes after the restart and Vietnam went ahead in the 43rd minute through Nguyen Phong Anh.

And even though Thailand managed to draw level when Le Thi Tranh Ngan conceded an own goal in the 46th minute, Vietnam slammed in the winner just seconds later off Nguyen Phong Anh for the crown.

In the meantime, Indonesia came in third after beating Myanmar 4-1.

The score at the end of the first half was 2-0 off goals from Fitriya Hilda in the second minute and Dinar Kartika in the seventh minute.

Fitri Rosdiana (25th minute) and Carmen Karath (30th) added two more goals after the break before Myanmar replied with their only goal of the game through Yun Me Me Lwin in the 35th minute.
