Myanmar head coach Michael Feichtenbeiner realised only too well the task ahead of him tomorrow night when they open their campaign against Japan in the second round qualifiers of the FIFA World Cup 2026.
The match against the top Asian side will be played at the Panasonic Stadium Suita in Osaka, Japan.
“We have Japan, North Korea and Syria in our group, and according to the current world rankings, we are the underdogs,” said Feichtenbeiner.
“In tomorrow’s match, we must try not to concede early in the game as much as possible. We have to be focussed.”
Added Myanmar captain Maung Maung Lwin: “Japan are a strong and good team, with many famous players. But we will have to play to the instruction of the coach.
“The last time we played here, we lost (10-0), but the situation then was different. Now we have many players playing in several leagues in the region and I believe, my teammates will be able to perform tomorrow.”
