Yeangder Tournament Players ChampionshipOfficials were forced to postpone the halfway stage of the Yeangder Tournament Players Championship (TPC) due to persistent rain on Friday.

The second round of the US$500,000 Asian Tour event will now be played on Saturday with the third and final round scheduled to be staged on Sunday at the Linkou International Golf and Country Club.

Asian Tour Tournament Director Wanchai Meechai said: “We experienced heavy rain in the early morning on Friday and as the weather did not clear, the tournament committee decided to postpone the second round until Saturday.”

Officials announced the decision at 11.30am as the adverse weather caused certain areas on the course to be unplayable due to fog and flooding.

“The decision was made in the best interest of the tournament and our Asian Tour members to ensure that the course was in the best condition before we resume play,” said Wanchai.

Lin Wen-tang of Chinese Taipei and countryman Hung Chun-kang are tied for the lead at the Yeangder TPC after firing matching five-under-par 67s in the opening round.
