Third in the championship standings and enjoying a splendid run in their World Endurance Championship (WEC) debut season, Malaysiaâs awesome trio of Jazeman Jaafar, Nabil Jeffri and Weiron Tan aims to carry their amazing form at prestigious international championship, which enters its third round at Silverstone, United Kingdom this weekend.
Finishing 8th overall and fourth in the LMP2 class at Le Mans 24 Hours, the distinguished all-Malaysian driversâ line-up is high on confidence and full of fire; gelling up well together as a formidable partnership in challenging endurance test of the man and machine.
After a long break from the previous second round in Le Mans, all three drivers are really looking forward for the 6 Hour of Silverstone event; meeting up with their Jackie Chan DC Racing X JOTA Sport team crew and back on the steering wheel of their #Fortunecat37 ORECA 07-Gibson machine.
For former GP2 driver, Nabil Jeffri, it will be some sort of homecoming; given his familiarity and love for the Silverstone track, which has been a regular home for world class racing events which includes Formula 1 and MotoGP.
âI hope that we can carry the momentum from Le Mans. I really love Silverstone circuit and always felt very good when I was driving in Formula 2 there. Definitely, I am looking forward to race again and hope for some good results. We are 3rd in the championship, merely a single point behind #38 sister car and 15 points behind leader #36 (Alpine),â he said.
Lead driver Jazeman is confident of another strong showing by the team; emphasizing that consistency will be the key to success this weekend.
âSincerely, Iâm excited to continue the strong momentum where we left of. Consistency is key and we would like to collect more strong results for the championship,â said Jazeman, who like Nabil, have wide experience competing at Silverstone.
Speaking of his expectations of the Silverstone 6 Hours, Weiron echoed the sentiments of his team-mates; adding that they will be spurred to do their best in flying the Jalur Gemilang as Malaysia prepares for its 61st National Day celebrations.
“It’s been a busy break since the last round at Le Mans, but I’m ready for R3 and hope for us to do better and bring home some silverware and make Malaysia proud!” said Weiron, who admitted that he was very excited to be competing this weekend at Silverstone.
Featuring some of world top drivers including ex-Formula 1 drivers, Silverstone will definitely draw plenty of attention especially with home driver Jenson Button among those on the starting grid.
