2013 World Champion leads timesheets on first day, ahead of teammate Rea
Kawasaki Racing Team ended the first day of testing in Phillip Island 1-2 on the timesheets with 2013 WorldSBK Champion Tom Sykes beating reigning Champion Jonathan Rea to the top spot by 0.196 seconds.
It was a day marred by drizzle and interruptions that saw Honda rider Michael Van Der Mark come home third fastest ahead of fellow ex-rookie Jordi Torres on his BMW, with MotoGP Legend Nicky Hayden completing the top 5 ahead of Yamaha duo Guintoli and Lowes on their new YZF R1.
The three Ducatis of Fores, Davies and Giugliano rounded out the top ten.

Krummenacher leads Sofuoglu for the first time as rain hits Phillip Island
The Puccetti pair of Randy Krummenacher and Kenan Sofuoglu recorded a 1-2 finish in the second session of testing at Phillip Island, with track time interrupted by spots of rain and drizzle.
The Swiss rider’s best lap of 1’33.678 in the second session saw him less than a tenth clear of his teammate in P2, after reigning Champion Sofuoglu dominated the morning.Â
Frenchman Jules Cluzel was the Turkish rider’s closest challenger for most of the afternoon until improved track conditions saw Krummenacher able to take the number one spot, with American PJ Jacobsen and Italian Lorenzo Zanetti completing the top 5.
