The first round of China’s first Junior Golf Tour of Asia (JGTA) event, The 2019 Southern Junior presented by Tradewinds Furnishing, taking place this week at Foshan Golf Club, is in the books. 36 holes remain until champions will be crowned.
In the Girl’s Division, Nga Wun (Tiffany) Wu (2020) of Hong Kong and Ieong Sin Kuan (2020) of Macau both fired scores of 2-under-par 70 and are tied for the lead after 18 holes. This is Wu’s third JGTA event and she sits in sixth place on the JGTA Junior Order of Merit, the official ranking system of the Tour. Kuan is a firsttime JGTA competitor.
Trailing Wu is the lowest JGTA Junior Order of Merit rank holder in the field – Eila Galitsky (2025) of Chiang Mai, Thailand, Yulin Chen (2021) of Guangzhou, and Irene Wang (2020) of Beijing with first-round scores of even-par 72.
In the Boy’s Division, Zhongyu (Zach) Zhang (2022) of Kunming, China sits in the lead after firing 34-35 for a first round score of 3-under-par 69. Sihan Chen (2023) of Nanjing, China, Songge Jiang (2021) of Zhangjiagang, China and HanZhe Zhou (2021) of Chengdu, China are tied for second with scores of 1-under-par 70.
